“Our Way Forward” Menu Reflects West’s Commitment to Economic Stimulation.

As a means of honoring and contributing to the White House’s efforts to jump-start our flagging economy, Portland’s West Café has “re-charged” and “re-branded” our popular “Bail-Out Menu” with a brand new “Our Way Forward” Menu featuring four delectable dinner entrées for just $10 each.

Items on the “Our Way Forward” Menu effectively combine the grounding comforts of tradition with edgier steps into the future.  After all, imagination is a key component in successfully making “our way forward”!

“Our Way Forward” Dinner Menu:

Steamed ½ Artichoke with Curry Tofu and Brown Rice Stuffing and Creamy Lemon Peppercorn Dip

Grilled Turkey Reuben with Mashed Potatoes

Wild Mushroom Lasagna with Roasted Red Peppers, Wilted Greens & Basil Tomato Cream Sauce

Grilled Dijon Marinated Chicken Breast over au Gratin Potatoes

This represents a significant discount over West Café’s regular dinner menu, which emphasizes fresh Northwest fare with entrée prices ranging from $16 to $25.

West Cafe Offers Portland’s Best Organic Pies: This Week’s Selection is Apple Pie.

West Cafe is proud to offer Homemade Organic pies delivered fresh each week from local chef, James Boyd. James is also the creator of Bee Cuisine, a catering company providing fresh creative fare for those of us too busy to do the cooking ourselves.

This week, James has been busy cooking up a delicious apple pie just like his mom used to make. This gourmet delight is filled with the freshest organic ingredients, hand mixed spices, and a touch of old fashioned bourbon.  The unique blend of the chef’s personal mix of Quatre Epices with white pepper and ground ginger gives each slice it’s unique bite.

The addition of Bulliet Bourbon adds sweetness to balance out the savory tones of the tart green apples.  The apples chosen for this week’s pies are a mix of both sweet and tart varieties including organic Granny Smith, Golden Delicious and Pink Lady. The crust is classically inspired, made from organic white flour and vegetable shortening kept chilled to create the kind of flaky crust we all remember and treasure.

You can only get her amazing creations at the West Cafe restaurant as she works exclusively with cafe owners, Doug and Sean. Her items sell out quickly so come in soon to ensure the best selection. Cherry-Pecan Streusel

Instead of looking out the window at the rain…order our delightful Streusel chocked full of cherries and pecans complemented with a scoop of vanilla ice cream dusted with cinnamon…you can almost see the rainbow!

Apricot and White Chocolate Shortbread

Shortbread with chunks of Callebaut white chocolate tempering the tang of the apricots and balancing the flavors for a wonderfully tempting treat.

Chocolate Les Perles Cupcakes

Valrhona Les Perles lace a moist buttery cake, frosted with a fabulous Chocolate Swiss Meringue Buttercream. Yum!
